Dr. Maria Fedoryka

Creation in Love

Credo and the Catholic Union of Missouri are very pleased to welcome Dr. Maria Fedoryka to St. Louis to deliver the 2012 Frederick Philip Kenkel Memorial Lecture for the Feast of St. Joseph 6 P.M., Sunday, March 18th, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Clayton.

The existence of creatures – and especially of the human person – is an outpouring of divine love from within the depths of the Trinity. Since love is the foundation of his being, man’s life is, in the words of John Paul II, incomprehensible and meaningless unless he participates intimately in love. In her lecture Dr. Fedoryka will explore the significance of love for the life of the human person, showing it to be the origin, end, and meaning of human existence.

Dr. Fedoryka was recommended to Credo by philosopher and theologian Alice von Hildebrand, and you don’t get a better recommendation than that. She was a student of Mrs. von Hildebrand and is a collaborator with her on The Personalist Project. Dr. Maria Fedoryka is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Ave Maria University in Florida. She specializes in ethics and realist phenomenology (i.e. the study of consciousness as directed to a reality outside the mind), with a particular interest in the centrality of love for the meaning of human existence and for the origin of creation itself. She is also currently exploring the nature and vocation of woman. Dr. Fedoryka teaches and lectures widely in these areas, and has written a number of academic and popular papers on the topics, including a popular booklet titled The Gift of Woman recently brought out by the Knights of Columbus. Dr. Fedoryka received her PhD from the International Academy of Philosophy in Liechtenstein.

Menu

We have heard the calls to vary the menu at our Forums, and beginning this year, expect to see us mix it up a bit. This time you have a choice between Meatloaf & Mashed Potatoes, and Chicken Supreme in a White Wine Sauce. As ever, you may order a vegetarian meal, but it is Chef’s Choice as to exactly what it is. Entrees are served with salad, rolls, appropriate veggie, dessert, iced tea, and coffee.
